The idea of a new supporter’s branch for the west of Scotland had been spoken about between some friends for a number of months and it was felt there was sufficient interest to consider starting up a branch of our own. So in December last year an application was submitted to the OSC and approval was given earlier last month with the name of “Billy McNeill Renfrewshire OSC” chosen to represent us. Most of the members reside in or around Paisley, East Renfrewshire and Glasgow and the branch name is a tribute to a famous Scottish Manager who was appointed by the Blues in 1983 and did an excellent job in difficult times with very limited resources. During his 3 year tenure he also signed a number of fellow compatriots like McNab, Tolmie, Smith, Parlane, Melrose and more. Most of them made a significant contribution to the City cause, especially in the 1984/85 promotion season which saw us back in the old First Division and establishing the club in the top flight again. We attend a handful of home games a season and with the opportunity of having our supporters club it may allow us to attend more. The possibilities of merchandising for the branch, including polo shirts, pin badges etc is currently ongoing.
